Levi Colwill has hailed ‘amazing’ teammate Mykhailo Mudryk and joked he steers clear of him in training to avoid being shown up.
Mudryk has been finding form in recent weeks after an underwhelming start to life at Chelsea since his £88.5m January move from Shakhtar Donetsk.
And the speedy Ukranian winger continued his improvement by scoring his first goal for the club, from Colwill’s clever pass, in Monday night’s 2-0 win at Fulham.
Colwill laughed: ‘I don’t go nowhere near him [in training], unless I want to get embarrassed!
‘The first half against Fulham he was amazing. Everyone can see the qualities he has and we see it all the time in training. He is such a good player and to come here and bring it in the first half was amazing. Now he’s got to build on it.

‘He’s got everything you want as a winger, as a player, he’s got. He just needs to show it every game.
‘It’s tough coming in from Ukraine to Chelsea.
‘There’s a lot of pressure that he may not have experienced, a different culture, and other things together.
‘So it was always going to be tough for him to come in and hit the ground running. But today’s performance was good, his last performance was good, and soon you will see the player he is.’
What his goal meant to Mudryk and his teammates was clear to see at Craven Cottage and Colwill said: ‘It’s amazing. I’m so happy for him, you could see in the celebrations. The pass was lucky. I don’t know how I found him, I couldn’t do it again!
‘He deserved that. He is a great player. He can be one of the best in the world. Now it’s about kicking on from here and hopefully he can build on it and be a great player.’
Colwill was also full of praise for Chelsea’s other scorer Armando Broja, who got on the scoresheet on his first start since recovering from a serious knee injury.
Defender Colwill said: ‘I’m so happy for him. He was out a long time and has been working so hard. To come in today and score… it’s the best way to come back. He’s got everything; he’s a problem [for defenders]. I’d hate to play against him. He’s big, strong and takes his chances.’

The Fulham win was another step in the right direction for Chelsea after a Carabao Cup success and clean sheet against Brighton last week.
It was also their first league victory since August.
Colwill said: ‘Like everyone keeps saying, we’ve got trust in the gaffer and have trust in ourselves.
‘It’s only time until we start winning games and playing our football, like we showed today.
‘Everyone has to keep their head up.
‘It’s been a change, new players coming in, new players leaving. We’re going to have to adapt and get used to each other.’
